Fall Family Fun at the Farm

A day of just  my boys and me. Perfection!

When you think of Fall, it most likely brings up of images of pumpkins, corn mazes, and fallen leaves.  Last year, we started a Fall family tradition of going to Cagle's Family Farm in Canton, Georgia, and I have to say that I'm very into traditions.  Cagle's is only about 45 minutes away from our house, so it's not too far.  This year we continued the tradition by returning there to explore the corn mazes, participate in the kids' activities like the inflatable and pony rides, and play in the pumpkin patch.  We didn't get a chance to go on the hay ride or to the petting zoo this year because we were having too much fun with everything else but still had to get home for afternoon naps.

Although Brian, Dominic, and I had all gone together last year, this was Blake's first time going to the corn mazes.  When we went last fall, I was 8 months pregnant with Blake, so we went a little earlier in the season, and I remember all too well waddling around the corn mazes, feeling extremely uncomfortable.  This year was even more fun because Blake was out of my belly, enjoying the fun with us!  Plus I was far more comfortable and mobile!

Dominic loved running around the corn maze again, but this time he decided hiding in the corn was even more fun.  It was much harder keeping track of him than last year because he tried to walk through the corn instead of staying on the paths.  Meanwhile, Blake was still pretty sick with his cold, but he ended up LOVING the inflatable "jumping pillow."  This was a bouncing thing that Dominic really enjoyed as well.  He jumped as he said "Bouncing!" over and over again and slid around on it, while Blake was thrilled to climb and crawl around on the thing.  He laughed at all of the toddlers and young kids jumping around on it with them.  He and Dominic also found wrestling with each other on the "jumping pillow" to be hysterical.

Another highlight was taking Dominic on the pony ride.  Blake was too little for this activity, but hopefully next year he can do it!  Upon our arrival, Dominic was instantly interested in the ponies - or "horsies" as he referred to them; however, he was extremely apprehensive about riding one initially.  We had to put him up on the pony against his wishes, but Dominic ended up loving the ride and kept talking about the "horsies" the rest of the time we were at Cagle's.

Of course, the trip wouldn't have been complete without a visit to the pumpkin patch there.  Dominic has been quite into pumpkins lately as we're reading a lot of Halloween books, decorating the house for Halloween, and watching "It's a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (over and over and over and over again) on DVD at home, so Dominic was especially excited to see so many pumpkins in one place.  Blake crawled around among the pumpkins happily, while Dominic ran around and in between the pumpkins (big surprise) and then even tried to pick them up (cutest thing ever considering how heavy they were).

I would definitely say that this was a successful trip.  These boys had a blast and I can honestly tell you I can't wait to take them back again next year and for years to come!
