Our Peanuts' Halloween

The cutest peanuts ever...Charlie Brown and Snoopy :)
Our little "peanuts" had a fun Halloween and few days leading up to the holiday!  Dominic dressed up as Charlie Brown and Blake was Snoopy from Peanuts since Dominic is a huge fan.  Dominic got very "into" Halloween and all of the pumpkins, skeletons, ghosts, witches, bats, and other Halloween fun.  I loved how he he started saying these words in a "scared" whisper with the widest eyes.  Dominic had started blaming things on ghosts like how his yogurt fell on the ground.  It was hilarious.  This was a fun holiday for the whole family.  I loved how much fun Dominic had as we carved our pumpkin as a family...Brian doing the knife-work while the boys and I watched and ate Halloween cookies.

Silly boys :)
Admiring the masterpiece.  Great job, Daddy!
Our Halloween festivities began the week before Halloween as the boys were in the Dunwoody MOMS Club Parade at Brook Run.  Although it was adorable seeing all of the kids including Dominic and Blake in costume, it didn't go so smoothly for the boys and me because Dominic was a complete disaster as I had to wake him up from a nap that took him an hour to fall asleep to begin with.  The poor little boy normally naps for 2 hours and only ended up napping for half an hour.  This kid needs his sleep and that was obvious based on his behavior.  Thankfully, Blake wore his Snoopy outfit without being bothered at all (a major contrast from when he tried it on a few days before and screamed) and was an angel for the parade.

Who knew that Charlie Brown and Snoopy loved each other so much?

An adorably happy Snoopy!

Then there was a Halloween playgroup.  It was funny to see these kids who dressed up in costume last year, dressed up again in different costumes this year.  I compared the pictures we took last year to the ones from this year, and was astonished at how much these kids have grown up in the last 12 months.

Last year's Halloween playgroup compared to this year's.  What a difference a year makes!
On Halloween itself, Brian and I had our families over before we took the boys trick-or-treating, so they could see the boys in costume.  Dominic was ecstatic to have Papa and Nonna (my parents) as well as Grandpa Jim and Mimi (Brian's parents) and Aunt Christina, Uncle Tom, and Aunt Katie (Brian's 2 sisters and brother-in-law).  It was a little crazy especially because Dominic was so hyped up having a crowd of people there.  Brian and I talked about having both families over the night before Halloween next year, so  they can see the boys dressed up but we're not so rushed to get to our trick-or-treating.

After the families left, we met our neighbors and went trick-or-treating with them in the neighborhood across the street from ours.  They have a festival Halloween celebration, so it's a great place to trick-or-treat.  The houses are all decorated in fun ways, and they even have "Ghost Patrol" which consists of volunteers who are basically monitors for the kids especially when cars happen to drive through the neighborhood.

This was Blake's first Halloween and first time "trick-or-treating."  He was content the entire time even wearing his big Snoopy outfit.  Luckily, it was cool out, so the costume was perfect because it kept him warm.  Dominic had a great time!  He loved running house to house and ringing each home's doorbell.  He was a little apprehensive of the dogs that many people had but that wasn't surprising.  Dominic loved saying, "Or Treat," when people opened the door (apparently focusing on only the important part of the saying), enjoyed grabbing candy (even trying to give them candy from his own pail at one point), and always said "thank you" before leaving each doorstep.  We had been talking a lot about Halloween, pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, spiders, skeletons, and ghosts, so he loved seeing all of those images all over the place throughout the month of October and especially on Halloween night.

Such a fun night!! Seeing Dominic and Blake with those big smiles the whole night was amazing.  Definitely the best Halloween our family has had yet!! :)
