"Holy Halloween, Batman!"

Dominic’s 2nd Halloween was even more fun than his 1st!  He dressed up as Robin to Brian’s Batman.  The two of them all dressed up were very cute together.  I actually bought the Robin costume last year online, but it was WAY too big so we saved it for this year.  It’s crazy how much has changed since Dominic was that cute, little monkey crawling around last year.  This year, since he can walk, he was able to actually trick-or-treat, making the holiday even more special and fun for all 3 of us! Getting an abundance of candy when you're pregnant and craving sweets didn't hurt either. :)

As every holiday is for the Mortons, Halloween was a busy one for us.  Brian and I went to 2 parties over the weekend - one of which Brian dressed up for - of course it wasn't as cute without Dominic dressed up to go along with him.  I, on the other hand, didn’t dress up since I’m almost 9 months pregnant and can hardly find regular clothes to fit into comfortably, let alone a Halloween costume.  On Sunday night, we had our neighborhood playgroup and their families over for dinner at our house and had the kids all dress up.  It was so cute.

Then Monday/Halloween morning we had our MOMS Club playgroup over here as well and once again had the kids dress up.  Dominic and I had to miss the MOMS Club costume party the week before because he had school that morning, so I wanted to have the playgroup do a costume thing as well since they all look adorable together all dressed up.  Nobody seemed to mind getting another use out of their costumes!

Then on Monday afternoon, Brian came home from work early and we went to a Halloween party. This one was with our other playgroup. Once again, all of the kids were dressed up and looked so cute in their costumes. It was a lot of fun!

When it was time to trick-or-treat, we met up with our neighborhood friends at yet another get-together (who says that when you have kids you don't have a social life anymore?).  We all ventured to the neighborhood across the street because they do a big trick-or-treating thing there.  The neighborhood really goes all out with decorations and even a "ghost patrol." It was a lot of fun!

Mission accomplished: candy obtained. 

By the end of the night, Dominic was very proficient at picking candy. :)

Dominic was (of course) shy at first, but ended up getting really into getting candy from the houses...although he wasn’t allowed to actually eat any of the candy.  That was for Brian and me!  Instead of putting the candy in his jack-o-lantern, he preferred to carry a piece of candy in each hand.  It was so cute.  Dominic also loved getting to see all of the dogs at the various houses.  In fact, he was much more interested in those “daw-ies” than actually collecting candy.

We trick-or-treated for about an hour and then made one final stop...at Nonna and Papa’s since they live just on the other side of that neighborhood.  By then, I could barely walk though.  Being almost 9 months pregnant and walking around so much was absolutely exhausting.  I really look forward to next year when I won’t be uncomfortable and debilitated like an elderly person or something. 

A very fun but exhausting Halloween!

All in all, it was a wonderful Halloween and first trick-or-treating experience!  It just reminds me how much more fun holidays - and life in general - are when you have kids!
